In 1999 Friends of the Ravines received a Conservation Grant from the Catherine Hislop fund of the Columbus Foundation and the Glen Echo Model Restoration Project was underway. The project began with volunteer labor moving wheelbarrows of soil for an initial planting of native plant species near the base of the northern slope. To carry out the restoration further up the hillside the Friends of the Ravines contracted the Civilian Conservation Corps. The restoration was finally completed in June 2001.
